Backside
Rotation of your board, your body, or both, with your back facing the direction you are moving.

Bail
Deliberately falling to avoid injury.

Boned
Apply pressure to the nose while in the air to make the board's nose touch the ground first.

Catch
Land on your board while it is in the air, before the board touches the ground.

Credit card
Your board unexpectedly slides up between your legs during a trick, typically hitting the thighs, or worse...

Curb
Flat structure you can jump onto, jump down from, or grind along the edge.

Flick
Action of your ankle making a 'coma' movement, causing the board to flip.

Frontside
Rotation of your board, your body or both, with your front facing the direction you are moving.

Gap
Vertical gap to jump down from, such as curbs, walls, or stairs.

Goofy
Goofy skaters ride to their right, with their right foot in front.

Manual
Rolling while balancing on the back two wheels ('nose manual' refers to balancing on the front two wheels).

Mongo
Using your front foot to push on the ground (not recommended).

Nose
Front part of the board, curved upward, starting at the base of the curve.

Pivot
Turning 180 degrees while using only two wheels (either the front or back wheels).

Pocket
Inner or outer surface of the tail or the nose.

Pop
Action of the board bouncing on the ground, caused by your foot pushing down on the tail.

Power slide
Turning 180 degrees while using all four wheels.

Primo
Landing a trick on the edge of the board (either a quarter flip or three-quarters of a flip rotation).

Pushing
Put one foot on the ground and push backwards to get some speed.

Regular
Regular skaters ride to their left, with their left foot in front.

Scoop
Action of the board sliding on the ground, caused by your foot pushing down on the tail and shoving the board sideways.

Sketchy
Trick poorly executed but still landed.

Stance
'Stance' has two meanings :
- The direction you naturally skate: Regular or Goofy.
- The direction relative to your own stance: Regular, Fakie, Switch, or Nollie.

Steeze
A mix of 'style' and 'laziness', referring to a trick performed with minimal effort but looking impressive, often showcasing a distinctive style.

Tail
Back part of the board curved upward, starting at the base of the curve.

Tic tac
Moving forward (not sideways) by alternating backside and frontside pivots, with one foot on the tail and the other on the nose.

Wind
Action of rotating your shoulders in the opposite direction of the trick you are about to do. This movement creates a 'wind-up' effect, allowing you to swing your shoulders back in the right direction, generating power for the trick.
